My research project addresses the role of intuitions and emotions in building a normative theory. This very general topic is developed through the perspective of population ethics, a branch o contemporary ethics dealing with those actions which affect the well-being, the identity and the number of future people. The central question is whether and to what extent we may detect and get rid of selfish intuition, moral biases, and a "presentist" attitude, so to enhance our moral perspectives and create a better world for future generations. In order to explore this possibility, the research turns its attention on art, on the premise that visual arts have been a field in which the human faculty of moral imagination - our capability to think a normative reality different from our "normality" - has been developed and exercised.
