Representing the other: a case for interdisciplinary clinical legal education The research conducted during the secondment in Paris has been part of the research I've been conducting for my Ph.D. thesis, with the primary focus on the possibility of connecting anthropology and legal practice within the asylum proceedings, and through the prism of the concept of cultural expertise. The primary country of inquiry was Italy, with the case studies and informants (primarily legal practitioners) being from the Italian asylum and immigration framework. As the concept and application of the concept of cultural expertise are somewhat more developed within the French judiciary system, the research period spent in Paris I used to get acquainted further with French case law involving the use of cultural experts, primarily in the immigration framework and through the database provided by the project EURO-Expert based at the Universite Paris Nanterre, as well as reading the texts and literature dealing with the same topic, and in the French context. Furthermore, since my co-supervisor is also at the Paris Nanterre and Universite de Sorbonne, I have attended several in-person supervisory meetings as well as seminars/conferences at the Universite de Sorbonne.
