Democratic cosmopolitanism : rights as commons The object of my research is to work on what democratic cosmopolitanism may be today as a European cultural way. A European cultural way carrying a new social and political compromise based on the good life and not predation and exclusion. A European cultural way that knows how to open up permanent critical ways, at the frontiers of social democracy. A European cultural way constructed by the law. Upon what laws is it based? What are the places, the spaces, creators of such laws? How to work on this as commoners? Starting from different points of view. We are living in the XXI century. How can we take the inheritance of Stuart Hall and see how it plays out again in Europe today? What is authoritarian populism today? What are the conditions for this today? The law is a cultural skill for this. What are the laws and models of production for this today? We are advancing towards a global community. How is this cosmopolitanism a progressive element of an ordered pluralism in the world that is re-forming (global south etc.). We have desperate need of other stories. How to imagine the politics, the actions of this? The models of representation? Models that are not fixed.
