In my research in Santiago de Chile I have tried to understand how different kinds of street art function in the streets of Santiago de Chile and Valparaiso. In Santiago I have connected to the street art festival Santiago a mil, observing it as an audience member and discussing with the organizers their ways of presenting performances in public space and connecting to the local community. Another type of art that is very interesting and well developed in Chile is visual street art. I walked the long streets and numerous neighbourhoods in Santiago and especially in Valparaiso, observing magnificent art of murals, graffiti and satirical drawings. I observed how street art is included into public space and how it functions there.
