Abbanniate : poetics of the Market

During my stay in Palermo and thanks to my host, Dr. Clelia Bartoli from the Law department at Università degli Studi di Palermo, I was introduced to a project that engages students in active participation and exchange with  vendors at  Ballaro’s flea market, Albergheria. Working together with the community of inhabitants, vendors and local representatives of traders, the students drafted some regulations that should improve the conditions of their work and formalise the vendors’ status. The project involved the Municipality of Palermo which is to further respond to proposed regulations, which is most likely to happen.
