Marisa ZELE

Marisa Žele (1990) is a research assistant at the Institute of Philosophy at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) and a PhD candidate at the Postgraduate School ZRC SAZU. In 2021 she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship to conduct a research stay at Yale University, NH in the United States, and in May/June 2022 she became a visiting researcher in the Trans-making EU project at L'Istituto di Formazione Politica "Pedro Arrupe" in Palermo, Sicily.
Her main fields of research are philosophy of history, the epistemology of the Middle Ages, history of science, poststructuralism, and theoretical psychoanalysis.
She is currently researching medieval eschatology and its traces in the postmodern world. On these and several other topics in philosophy, she published numerous academic papers at home and abroad.

As part of the trans-making project, she will explore and analyze the topology of otherness in the history of European thought, and what this, in turn, means for Europe today. Palermo, with its rich and long history of cultural interaction, offers a productive space for this analysis.
