Aleksandra ZIŃCZUK

During my secondment in London, apart from research in libraries and study visits in cultural institutions, my main tool was a research walk along the River Thames. In my observatory work I focused on a semiotic point of view, trying to read the patterns of the city in some of its riverside districts and issues such as designing common public space, including dealing with history, thinking about commemorative parts of the public space (historic and human narratives, memory studies). I wrote an essay trying to show a fascination with cultural heritage related to rivers in a more universal way.
