Lefteris Heretakis
MA RCA, is a lecturer and a designer. After a successful six-year service at Teesside University UK as the pathway leader for illustration, Lefteris Heretakis is currently teaching at the BA(Hons) in Visual Communication Design department at Izmir University of Economics. He is also an Education Doctorate candidate with the University of Sheffield. Lefteris Heretakis is deeply interested in improving design education. In order to do this, he is researching education history as well as embedding all the practical and up to date experience and knowledge from the industry he has acquired in over 20 years of working as a designer. It is this combination of practice and theory that holds the key to creating the designers of the future with deeply developed hand-heart-eye coordination skills who are also capable of engaging in design philosophy discourse of the highest level. His interests are mainly in the field of education policy/history and the way this affects the development, teaching and learning of a new generation of creative individuals.
