My research intends to observe the airport transit zones to analyze, deconstruct and rethink borders by articulating three aspects—first, borders as administrative, political, social, and racial constructions. Second, borders as a complex system of classification of 'travellers', as an instrument of differentiation and construction of migratory categories and profiles. This study wants to interrogate the “official” administrative and juridical categories imposed on travellers and the more invisible dynamics of profiling at borders (statistical discrimination). Third, the direct experience of people who pass through, “wait for,” and transform these places.
