The main topic of 2-months research undertaken in Santiago, Chile was experimenting with new technologies in cultural and artistic activities. The research has focused on Chilean approach to education in the field of new technologies (including media education). I have put special emphasis on the network of so-called fablabs (fabrication laboratories) and makerspaces, which become very active in Chile. The main area of my research was a comparative study on new technologies education in Chile and Poland in the form of fablabs/makerspaces. This has tackled some topics as follows: the network of fablabs/makerspaces, their legal forms, types of activities, financing models, methodology of work, types of education provided, participants' and leaders' profiles, leaders' profiles, cooperation with other institutions/organisations, impact on public spaces, impact on local entrepreneurship and creative industries. The main activities within the secondment were meeting and interviews with the representatives of various Chilean fablabs and makerspaces - their directors and managers, as well as participant observation, content analysis and case studies
