The research explores and investigates the soundscape of the city of Ljubljana – the audio sphere of the city and its various acoustic environments, with a particular focus on the city's public green spaces – how they sound and how their existence influences the overall soundscape of the city.

The research is based on the concepts of soundscape and sound studies, as presented by R. Murray Schafer. It also incorporates the concept of acoustic ecology, acoustic design and noise pollution. The research focuses on the following issues: urban soundscape research, the dichotomy of urban and suburban in the context of sound (noisy versus quiet), and how green spaces affect the city's soundscape. The research process involved several activities: sound walks in the city – field research: searching for sonically intriguing spaces, sound signals and soundmarks; field recordings – recording and analyzing city sounds, as well as mapping them; investigating existing sound projects and sound maps of Ljubljana; photography, sound, video and written documentation of recorded places. The secondment results in a research paper presenting the idea of sound studies and summarizing research done in Ljubljana together with audio documentation of the sonic environment of the city.
