Views from the hill: A drift about gentrification in Belleville

This ongoing research was initiated with the aim of analysing the phenomenon of gentrification in the Parisian quartier of Belleville.

The methodology combined socio-economic analysis from an academic point of view with the practice of drift as an artistic technique investigating urban space, and the audio-visual documentation of the process (in collaboration with photojournalist and specialist on gentrification Eva Mañez).

Principal methodologies include:

[] Preparing a work plan during the month leading up to the research period (August) in order to compile the necessary information.

[] Developing a network of contacts (cultural spaces and organizations)

[] Actor analysis (who is who in Belleville)

[] Interviews with cultural actors and social organizations

[] Audiovisual documentation

[] Art-based research
