Cultural rights, the democratisation of societies and collective identities The research has made it possible to work in two complimentary directions on cultural rights. Firstly, it considered the value of historical memory in the processes of democratisation of societies and the role of cultural activities and organisations in this sense. Secondly, it explored the value of popular cultural expressions in the construction of collective identities and social structuring. It led to the organisation, in coordination with the University pf La Habana, of a photo-exhibition, along with visits to different neighbourhoods in La Habana, and documentation about its cultural spaces.
